An experimental undertaking.  I was introduced to this maker of coats by a dear friend and have been so pleased with the coat I purchased. I call it my "glad rag" and I throw it on whenever I need a speedy transformation for openings. (I paint what I love)I painted this from some photo references of the two women in the market stall surrounded by these extraordinary coats of many colors.To reference the intricate pattern and colors of Indian fabric I began with an acrylic underpainting of abstract geometry - applying some marks with the edge of some corrugated cardboard. ( I acknowledge a Dawn Emmerson influence here.) My critical voices cautioned me to simplify  the design- but I ignored them and had a very enjoyable time forming the figures and background against the "noisy" underpainting>
